PULASKI, Tenn. – On January 30, 2020, Martin Methodist College (now the University of Tennessee Southern) was named the 2019 Business of the Year during the Giles County Chamber’s Business Awards & Social Hour (BASH) at King B Farm in Ardmore, Tenn.
Chamber ambassadors and board members deliberated and nominated local Giles County businesses for various awards, and community members selected the winners through a voting system. UTS (formerly MMC) was one of many businesses recognized during the night of festivities. Pulaski Mayor Pat Ford and Giles County Mayor Melissa Green closed the event by sharing their visions for Giles County in 2020 and beyond.
“Martin Methodist is proud to be a permanent stakeholder in Giles County and southern Middle Tennessee,” said UTS (formerly MMC) President Dr. Mark La Branche. “As Martin celebrates its 150 th year, it is a great honor to be recognized as Business of the Year. The impact of the College economically, socially, and culturally cannot be overstated. We are grateful for the support of our many partners as we seek to be a national model of rural church-related higher education in America.”
The University of Tennessee Southern, formerly Martin Methodist College, is the newest member of the University of Tennessee System. Founded in 1870 , UTS offers (number of degrees) associate, baccalaureate and graduate degrees. UTS is located on an historic campus in Pulaski, among the beautiful rolling hills of southern Middle Tennessee.
