“How the Tennessee Titans Came to Nashville”

Byron R. Trauger, who has recently joined his practice with Wiseman Ashworth Law Group, is a prominent Nashville attorney and was founding partner of law firm Trauger & Tuke. A Rhodes Scholar, Trauger received his Bachelor of Arts from Duke University and was a Rotary Foundation Undergraduate Scholar in Peru. In 1977, he earned the Juris Doctor from Yale University, serving as Associate Editor of the Yale Review of Law and Social Action; from there, he stepped into the impressive legal career that he maintains today.
He began his career as judicial clerk to the late Honorable Frank W. Wilson, Chief Judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. He served as Assistant United States Attorney in Chattanooga. He practiced for two years in Boston. Mr. Trauger has had a storied career, having chaired the board of a $500-million publicly-traded managed care company; serving on the board of directors of various companies and foundations, including Nashville Public Radio, the Land Trust of Tennessee, and the Dollywood Foundation. He ran a Tennessee gubernatorial campaign and two Nashville mayoral campaigns.
An active Rotarian and United Methodist,
Mr. Trauger was Board Chair of Martin Methodist College, now UT Southern, for nearly a decade. Bryon Trauger led the negotiating team that brought the Tennessee Titans—formerly the Houston Oilers–to Nashville.
