The University of Tennessee Southern offers a full evening program for the pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree.
What is the Evening College program?
The Evening College program is a convenient and affordable way for working adults to earn a two-or four-year degree while maintaining a full-time job. With this program, students must only attend classes two nights each week. Classes are held on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday evenings running through eight-week sessions. Students typically attend two classes each evening. There are six sessions within a year; therefore applications are accepted year-round. For students over the age of 21 the ACT exam is not required and the GED is accepted; however, placement testing may be required.
What does the Evening College Program offer?
The Evening College program offers Bachelor’s degrees in the following majors with a list of the recommended curriculum for each program:
- Business Administration with an emphasis Management
- Elementary Education with a K-5 licensure
- Behavioral Sciences with emphases in
- Human Services
- General Psychology
- Criminal Justice

The Evening College program is designed for working adults, single parents, homemakers, retirees, dislocated workers, underemployed workers, veterans, and National Guard members. Since classes only meet two nights a week, it is possible to balance academic achievement with work and family life.
What financial aid is available?
92% of UT Southern students receive some type of financial aid to assist with expenses. Types of financial aid include but are not limited to:
- Federal Pell Grant
- Workforce Investment Act Grant
- Tennessee HOPE Scholarship – non-traditional component
- Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation Grant (TSAC)
- Federal Student Loan Programs
- Employee tuition reimbursement programs
