SUMMARY:Criminal Justice Speaker Series with Wallace Seay
DESCRIPTION:Wallace graduated from the Criminal Justice Program at Martin Methodist College in 2017 prior to the UT Southern acquisition. While in college\, Wallace was the captain of the MMC Shooting Team \nwhen they won the national championship during the 2016-2017 season. Wallace completed his internship with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and spent three years with the Criminal Justice Club coordinating several service projects while in college. Following graduation\, Wallace worked as a manager for a private company before relocating to Orlando Florida where he advanced his career working for the Walt Disney World security team overseeing security operations at the theme park. \nIn 2019\, Wallace joined the Metro Nashville Police Department where he served 4 years in the Patrol Division before being promoted to Detective. Currently\, Wallace serves as a Detective in the MNPD Domestic Violence Division.

DESCRIPTION:Please join us for an all-campus open forum on Friday\, October 11\, 2024\, to hear remarks from Mr. Cal Turner Jr.\, for whom the Turner Center is named. \nMr. Turner began his career at Dollar General in 1965\, a company founded by his father and grandfather in 1939. He succeeded his father as president in 1977 and became chairman in 1988. By the time of his retirement in 2003\, Dollar General had grown into a New York Stock Exchange retailer with more than 6\,000 stores across 27 states and annual sales exceeding $6 billion. Mr. Turner chronicled his family’s history and the rise of Dollar General in his 2018 book\, My Father’s Business\, published by Hachette. \nStudent Lunch at the Reveille House will follow.

DESCRIPTION:Todd Bensman is an editorialist\, media commentator\, and investigative author of the 2023 book OVERRUN\, How Joe Biden Unleashed the Greatest Border Crisis in U.S. History (Posthill Press/Bombardier Books) and also America’s Covert Border War: The Untold Story of the Nation’s Battle to Prevent Jihadist Infiltration (Posthill Press/Bombardier Books\, February 2021). \nThe two-time National Press Club award winner\, a former journalist of 23 years\, currently serves as the Texas-based Senior National Security Fellow for the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS)\, a Washington\, D.C. policy institute for which he writes reporting-based opinion editorials\, speaks\, and grants media interviews about the nexus between immigration and national security. He frequently reports from the southern border\, traveling widely inside Mexico\, Central America\, and South America. DESCRIPTION:This event will be rescheduled due to the potential for severe weather and the transition to remove learning. \n  \n1st Lt Victor Andrea is currently the 118th Security Forces Operations Officer and 118th Wing Anti-Terrorism Officer in the Tennessee Air National Guard at Berry Field\, Nashville\, Tennessee. In a civilian law enforcement capacity\, he served for over 20 years with the New York City Police Department (NYPD) as a Police Officer\, Detective\, Sergeant\, Sergeant-Detective\, and retired at the rank of Lieutenant in 2013. \nDuring his tenure with NYPD\, he was assigned to several different commands including patrol\, Community Policing\, Narcotics\, the Street Crime Unit\, Anti-Crime\, the Counter-Terrorism Division\, and spent 9 years on the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) in New York and the National Joint Terrorism Task Force in Washington DC.
