DESCRIPTION:Join us for our next Guest Artist event as Pulaski native Dr. Jessica Dunnavant (flute) is joined in performance by our own Dr. Peter Douglas. Dunnavant teaches at Lipscomb University and Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music\, where she is the instructor for the Blair Academy flute students. She maintains a large private studio in metro Nashville. As a performer\, Dr. Dunnavant is a core member of the Jackson Symphony in West Tennessee and a frequent sub with other area groups. As a proponent of Historically Informed Performance\, she is the traverso and recorder player with Music City Baroque\, and in summer 2023\, along with several other area flute teachers\, she founded the Flute Society of Greater Nashville.

The event\, held in Gault Auditorium\, will include both a talk with Abdullah and a Q&A session at the end. \nInspired by stories from Abdullah’s childhood growing up in Kuwait\, The Stardust Thief follows a merchant\, her bodyguard\, a prince\, and a thief as they search for a magical object whose discovery could reshape their world. Its sequel\, The Ashfire King\, is available April 15. \nThis event is free and open to the public. Students\, faculty\, staff\, and community members are encouraged to attend in person or via Zoom. DESCRIPTION:We will be hosting the speaker of the Speer Distinguished Entrepreneur Series\, Mr. Don Denbo. Mr. Denbo is a serial entrepreneur with ventures in several sectors. He was a co-founder of Commercial Insurance Associates\, a leading casualty insurer and risk management firm\, where he remains Executive Chair. He was a star football player and scholar-athlete at UT Knoxville. He went on to earn his Ph.D. in Economics at the London School of Economics. He is a published poet\, and benefactor of the Denbo Center for the Humanities and the Arts at UT Knoxville.  \nMr. Denbo\, a native from Pulaski\, will visit the campus\, deliver a talk (with Q&A) for students\, faculty\, and community\, and attend a dinner in his honor. The talk will be livestreamed.
