The UT Southern Fine Arts Department offers ensemble music experiences for students of all disciplines and skill levels. Several curricular and extra-curricular ensembles are open to undergraduate and graduate students and offer several performance opportunities during the Fall and Spring semesters. A community choir is also open to members of the community (aged 18 and up) and to UT Southern faculty and staff.
The UT Southern Choral Program offers a choral singing experience to students of all ages and majors. Repertoire for each choir is chosen from all time periods and styles and provides a rich artistic experience. UTS choir students sometimes have the opportunity to perform choral/orchestral works and to travel.
The UTS Concert Choir is an ensemble open to students of all disciplines. Over the course of several semesters of participation, members will perform accompanied and unaccompanied music representing a broad spectrum of history and cultures.
Chamber Choir is the university’s most select choral ensemble and is open to students of all disciplines by audition. Members of Chamber Choir will be challenged to develop their musical and vocal skills to perform challenging repertoire representing a broad spectrum of history and cultures.
Southern Arts Chorale
The Southern Arts Chorale is UT Southern’s community choir, open to any singer aged 18 and above. The Arts Chorale is a perfect opportunity for those wishing to develop their singing skills or just to indulge their love of music. Chorale performs on all UT Southern choral concerts.
UT Southern offers ensemble experiences to students who play a variety of instruments and in many different musical styles. Instrumental ensembles regularly engage in community performances and sometimes appear on Fine Arts Department concerts.
The Extra Credits is an extra-curricular ensemble that comes together to make acoustic music in a wide variety of styles. Open to all students, the Extra Credits features a rhythm section (guitar, bass, and drums) as well as other instruments associated with the bluegrass tradition (such as banjo and mandolin) and vocalists.
