Students, Faculty, and Staff:
Due to the ongoing boil water advisory and recent recommendations from the health department, we are taking steps to help further ensure the safety and convenience on our campus. As part of this effort, our dining hall will be switching to single use disposable materials for food and drink consumption.
This precautionary measure streamlines our food service operations while continuing to help safeguard the health of our campus community.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
Update: January 22, 2024
Students, Faculty, and Staff:
As the weather gradually improves and temperatures rise, we are pleased to announce the reopening of our campus beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
We acknowledge that road and weather conditions vary across the state. While we are eager to return, it is important to remind our campus community that safety remains our top priority. Since travel conditions may be challenging for some, urge everyone to continue to use their best judgment in deciding when it is safe to return.
Faculty, staff, and administrators should work to accommodate those who are unable to return and provide flexibility in work schedules, assignments, and deadlines. Students should remain in close communication with faculty regarding class attendance and assignments.
We look forward to fully returning to our regular campus life and thank you for your resiliency and adaptability.
Update: January 21, 2024 – Boil Water Alert
The Pulaski Water System has experienced a significant loss of water pressure. As a result, and in an abundance of caution for the safety of our community, they have issued a temporary boil water alert for the affected area – which includes our campus. All residents and community members should boil their water before drinking or using it for cooking (boiling water kills bacteria and other organisms that may be present). Boil water for at least one minute before drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes. Alternatively, use bottled water for these activities.
In response to the current boil water alert, the dining hall is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of our campus community. Bottled water is available at the CAC.
The City of Pulaski will issue an all-clear notice as soon as tests confirm that the water is safe to drink without boiling.
Update: January 20, 2024
In light of the ongoing single-digit overnight temperatures, we have encountered challenges with maintaining a comfortable temperature in the Johnston Center for in-person classes on Monday. As a result, we are extending our online status through Monday, January 22, 2024. With the forecast predicting rising temperatures, we are optimistic that conditions will improve to allow in-person operations to resume on Tuesday.
The dining hall will resume its regular operating schedule beginning on Monday. For students on campus, the Curry Athletic Complex will open on Sunday, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and for limited hours on Monday (postponed basketball games are scheduled in the Curry on Monday afternoon).
As always, the safety of our campus community remains our top priority. Given the varying road conditions across the state, we urge you to make travel decisions based on your individual circumstances and not attempt to travel if it is unsafe for you to do so.
Your understanding and patience are greatly appreciated as we work toward a safe return to normal campus operations.
