First Time Admission Requirements
First Time Freshmen
MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
- a composite score of 17 or above on the American College Test (ACT) or 920 SAT (ERW+M) and a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale, OR
- a composite score of 18 or above on the ACT or 960 SAT (ERW+M) and a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale.
- Any student’s file not meeting regular admission requirements can appeal. Please ask your admissions counselor for more details. A letter of recommendation from your school counselor is required for the appeal.
A COMPLETE APPLICATION CONSISTS OF:
- Apply for Admission as a first-time student.
- Provide unofficial transcript(s) from your high school.
- Please provide an unofficial copy of dual enrollment transcripts if applicable.
- Provide ACT or SAT scores. Students must provide a standardized test exam result (typically the ACT and/or SAT) in support of their application for admission. UT Southern uses standardized test sub-scores to determine placement levels in certain areas. Be sure to submit all standardized exam results with your application for admission.
Students will be notified via mail and the student’s online application portal once an admission decision has been issued.
An official copy of the high school transcripts and ACT must be provided once a graduation date has been issued and the transcript is final.
Transfer Requirements
Students who have completed 12 hours of college-level courses must have a 2.0 GPA to be admitted.
A COMPLETE APPLICATION CONSISTS OF:
- Apply for Admission as a Transfer.
- Provide unofficial transcript(s) for any post-secondary institution for all academic work attempted.
- High school transcripts and ACT may be requested in addition to all college transcripts. Students will be notified via mail and the student’s online application portal once an admission decision has been issued.
Transfer Credit evaluations are completed after steps 1 & 2 are completed.
An official copy of any/all post-secondary academic transcripts must be provided once all term grades have been issued and the transcript is final. Transfer applicants will generally not be admitted if they are on academic suspension at the last school attended.
