PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern has reported its second-highest enrollment in institutional history, with final census numbers for Fall 2025 showing total enrollment at 1,132 students, an 8.2 percent increase over last year.
One of the most significant drivers of growth has been transfer students, with UT Southern seeing a 44 percent increase compared to Fall 2024. Enrollment also rose across multiple categories, including graduate students (up 21 percent) and continuing students (up 2 percent).
“This marks another milestone moment for UT Southern,” said Chancellor Melinda Arnold. “Our steady growth is a reflection of the personalized experience Firehawks receive here, the strong connections they build with faculty and peers, and the value of earning a University of Tennessee degree. Students are recognizing that UT Southern offers the right balance of opportunity, community, and academic excellence.”
With its location between Nashville and Huntsville, UT Southern serves as a vital educational anchor for southern Middle Tennessee. The campus’s enrollment momentum underscores its expanding role in preparing students for impactful careers while contributing to the growth and vitality of the region.

UT Southern’s Fall 2025 enrollment highlights include:
- Total Enrollment: 1,132 (up 8.2%)
- Transfer Students: 163 (up 44.2%)
- Graduate Students: 41 (up 20.6%)
- Continuing Students: 570 (up 2%)
Retention Highlight:
- Overall Undergraduate Retention: 79.9% (up from 79.5%)
