Why Nursing at UT Southern?
Discover a future of compassionate care and professional excellence with the Nursing program at UT Southern. Our program, distinguished by its student-focused approach, will prepare you for a rewarding career in one of the most crucial fields of healthcare: nursing. With a commitment to student success at its core, our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program offers a comprehensive curriculum that can be completed in four academic years, including one summer session.
You receive personalized attention and guidance thanks to a high faculty-to-student ratio in class, lab, and clinical settings. Our track record also speaks for itself: a 100 percent career placement rate within months of graduation and a 100 percent first-time NCLEX-RN pass rate in both 2022 and 2023, showcasing the strength of our program and the preparedness of our graduates.
At UT Southern, we uphold rigorous technical and professional standards that align with the Core Performance Standards essential for nursing practice. These standards, rooted in ethical conduct, respect for diversity, and sound judgment, prepare you to excel in diverse healthcare environments—from hospitals and schools to community health agencies and beyond.
Upon graduation, you’ll be ready to embark on a career as a Registered Nurse and be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN licensure examination. Our program has full approval from the Tennessee State Board of Nursing and accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
UT Southern BSN graduates are employed in all areas of nursing, locally, regionally, and nationally. The BSN is highly valued across the healthcare industry for its leadership preparation at the entry-level. Additionally, it serves as a steppingstone to pursue advanced practice nursing at the master’s level in specialized fields such as nurse practitioner, nurse anesthetist, healthcare administrator, forensic nurse, and midwife.
